Regeneracija – design of contemporary carpets

The production of hand-tufted carpets is located within the industrial complex of Regeneracija Zabok, a wonderful example of modernist industrial architecture. The entrance to the central building, which holds the showroom, provides an impressive image of recent works alongside the works of the permanent retrospective exhibition. Representative works of the artists who left a mark in the long history of carpet-making are kept here – Edo Murtić, Goranka Vrus Murtić, Ferdinand Kulmer, Jagoda Buić and many others who gave an impressive contribution to the contemporary understanding of this product.

The company, then called Zivtex, began with the design and carpet making programme back in 1967. In the middle of the 1980s Regeneracija took it over and focused on custom made carpets of contemporary design which are realized by in-house designers, as well as numerous associates. Regeneracija is thus present in contemporary architecture through various collaborations in exclusive projects, such as 3LHD (One Suite Hotel, Mlini near Dubrovnik); Maja Tedeschi (Hotel Briig, Bačvice, Split); Idis and Nora Turato (Hotel Navis and Roxanich); Atellior (Hotel Ikador, Ika), and many others. Traditional collaboration with artists is still ongoing because Regeneracija is open to artistic examination and experimental projects, such as the Slike po Ivanu (Images of Ivan) project by architect Nenad Fabijanić, while projects by world-known artists Nora Turato and Hana Miletić are currently in the process of being realized.
